Windley Key Fossil Reef Geological State Park
Nature
A former quarry where the old walls expose fossilized coral reef, turning a short walk into a cross-section of ancient Keys geology.
Why it matters
Windley Key was quarried for Key Largo limestone used in Henry Flagler's Overseas Railroad. Today the exposed quarry walls show fossilized coral, making the park one of the clearest places to see how ancient reef became the stone beneath modern Keys history.
