Stop 02 · Key Largo · MM 106
Dagny Johnson Key Largo Hammock
Nature
A protected hardwood hammock and birding stop, with quiet trails through one of the largest West Indian tropical hardwood hammocks in the country.
Why it matters
This park preserves one of the largest remaining tracts of tropical hardwood hammock in the United States. The trails show the upland side of Key Largo, where rare plants, migratory birds, and shaded limestone paths offer a quieter counterpoint to the reef stops offshore.
- What to order
- Walk the paved nature trail and watch for migratory birds.
- Hours
- Day-use park hours; check state park notices before going.
